Once Upon a Time

Fairy Tales

The children enjoyed discussing with their peers and matching props from stories to the correct fairy tale, as an introduction to this topic.

After reading fairy tales, the children enjoyed using props to take on the roles of different characters in the role play corner during structured play.

Investigating Waterproof Materials

The children discussed and predicted the most suitable material for Little Red Riding Hood's cloak, to keep her dry on a wet day visiting her Grandma. The pupils enjoyed taking part in an experiment, which involved them in testing different materials to discover whether or not they were waterproof.

Designing a Fairy Tale Castle

The pupils used the app 'Colour Pencil' on their iPads to design and draw a castle, which they would later create as part of a home project.
