Recount Writing - Letters
We have just completed a module on writing letters. We have spent time learning about the organization and structure of letters. As we have been reading the novel "Flat Stanley" we thought it would be fun to write recount letters to our friends in Australia, Our Erasmus friends in Italy, France, Estonia and Greece and tell them about our adventures in our Ciity - Belfast.
Pupils used the ipad and selected a creative app of their choice to complete their letters which will be mailed with a Flat Stanley and a flyer about Belfast created using the pickids app. We are looking forward to receiving replies telling us about cities around the world.
Our class have all been working hard learning how to write a non chronological report. They studied style, structure, the use of present tense, technical vocabulary and of course making their report an interesting read!
All pupils researched Polar Bears using fiction texts from the library, the internet (safari), YouTube kids, a variety of suggested websites and National Geographic kids magazines.
After submitting their written report, pupils talked about their piece of work with Miss Carney using two stars and a wish. They completed their final draft (with improvements)on their iPad using the book creator app.
Using the the book creator app, pupils uploaded images from the internet to their photo library and inserted them into their book. They recorded themselves reading their report and saved it as a video file. Finally they shared their work with their families and each other using the Seesaw app. (Now that's App Smashing!)
We really hope you enjoy their completed reports.
