Mrs Malone

Working together in the garden

Welcome to the class pages of Ms Malone 2018/19.

We have a busy year ahead of us, with transfer in November as well as our Service of Light and Commitment. In December we will be visiting The Titanic building before ending the year with Christmas activities.

In the new year we will preparing the children for the Sacrament of Confirmation and then ending it all off with our Year Seven Show.

The children will have the opportunity to improve their hurling skills as well as learn to play the African Drum. We will of course continue with swimming, which is a great skill to have when we go on our outdoor pursuits activity day in June.

The backbone of our school year will of course be the improvement in our literacy and numeracy skills. We will be focusing on all areas: spelling, reading, genre writing, comprehensions, grammar and punctuation, number, measures, algebra, shape and space and data handling. Also we will be exploring the different eras of The Victorians and The Romans.

As an apple distinguished school, our children will continue to enhance their ICT skills while remembering that safety on the internet is our priority.

We ask as always for your support and thank you for all you have done in the past.

I would encourage parents to take an active interest in their child’s homework. Listen to them read, ask them their spellings or just talk to them about the things that they are learning. There will be a great emphasis on Accelerated Reading so support your child by reading with them or taking them to the library.

The health and well being of your child is extremely important to us so if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am looking forward to working with all the children and know we have an exciting, fun filled year ahead.
