Our School Council consists of 12 pupils. There is a class representative from each class from P5 to P7. Each representative has a keen interest in Sports, Music, WAU, Ict, Literacy and Numeracy.
The School Council plays a very important role in our school. The 12 councillors help to make St Oliver Plunkett Primary School a nicer place for pupils, staff and our wider community. Here at St Oliver Plunkett Primary School we promote the Pupil Voice. We believe students should be able to speak for themselves and assist in making decisions concerning them.
School is a happier and more enjoyable place when pupils and teachers are working together and listening to each other.
The council meet once a month. Meetings consist of the councillors proposing new ideas, airing classmate's views, creating resources; including videos, posters and leaflets and our school newsletter to promote council messages.
Our Student Council organised a whole school readathon to raise much needed funds for our school.
We want to say a huge thank you all of our parents, carers and the whole school community for the effort you have made in making our Readathon a great success.
We celebrated this at assembly today and we had a special treat from the ice cream van!
Our student council held a competition to design our dream library after receiving funding to upgrade our facilities.
It was important that every member of our school community was involved in the design process.
We had some fantastic ideas from across the school.
