WELCOME TO YEAR 4

The teachers in Year Four are Mrs Hanna (Year Band Leader), Mr Gallagher, Mrs Mc Bride and Ms McCabe.

We are as busy as bees in Year 4.

In Year 4 we are now excellent at organising ourselves for the day at school. We line up promptly in the yard at 8:45am and move quickly to our classrooms, quickly washing our hands and getting down to work.

We are continuing to learn all about Kipper and his family in the Oxford Reading Tree Books.  This year we will be moving on to read longer stories and novels using the Tree Tops Scheme. Reading books will be sent via Seesaw and in print, please take good care of the printed books, they are in short supply.

One of our favourite times of the day is when we get to use the iPads for our learning. We love using them to research topics, demonstrate our learning as well as for fun stuff! Interactive, online learning is always fun but we must remember that we need to stay safe when we are online. Look at our E-safety messages from Cyber Tiger on the E-Safety page for how to stay safe online.

In Year 4 we begin to use Accelerated Reading, there is always competition to see who can read the most words. (Hopefully we will have some Word Millionaires this year) In Accelerated Maths we aim to master as many math's objectives as we can.  Your child's log in details will be sent home and your child can work on these at home as well as in school.

The topics we are working on this year are Reach For The Stars, Them Bones and It's a bugs life.  Remember to ask your child about our topic work and what we have been discovering in class.

Homework is an opportunity for you to support your child's learning at home and to keep up to date with what is happening in class.  Homework will be given out each day.

Monday.     Spellings, Mental Maths, Literacy and Reading (book on Seesaw)

Tuesday.     Spellings, Mental Maths, Numeracy and Reading (book on Seesaw)

Wednesday. Spellings, Mental Maths, Literacy and Reading (book on Seesaw)

Thursday.    Spellings, Mental Maths, Numeracy and Reading (book on Seesaw)

Homework books should be returned each morning.

This year we will be participating in the Gaelic Coaching and other sporting activities. On PE day your child should come to school in their PE gear, white T-shirt, navy tracksuit bottoms, school jumper and black plimsoles.

First Communion will take place as follows:
