  As you may know, we announced last year that our very own Malachy Marley, was awarded a Primary Engineer MacRobert Medal for his incredible invention,“I Can Swing!” as part of the “If you were an engineer, what would you do?” competition!

  This is a huge achievement for Malachy, our school, and the entire St Oliver Plunkett community! 🏅 The final award (Gold, Silver, or Bronze) will be revealed at the prestigious ceremony in London this November—but there’s one more way we can help Malachy shine even brighter…

  Gary and Sasha from Core NI live streamed a live workout with Mrs Diamond’s and Mr Muldoon’s classes this morning. Years 5 to 7 then made a guard of honour to send him on his way to his next stop.

  

• After Schools Launch

  MR Sports After School Programmes – Starting Monday 15th September

  MR Sports are bringing their after school programmes to our school fromMonday 15th September.

  They will be offering a different club each day alongside a wraparound service, ensuring there is an option for children and parents from 2–4 pm each day.

  • MR Sports Clubs:
    • 2–3 pm for P1–P3 pupils
    • 3–4 pm for P4–P7 pupils
    • (All clubs from 2–3 pm on Friday)
  • Ruby Roos Childcare:
    This service involves Lego, arts and crafts, games, and sports each day:
    • 2–3 pm for P1–P3 pupils
    • 3–4 pm for P4–P7 pupils
      Ruby Roos can also be added to any MR Sports club to provide a 2-hour after school option.
      Example: Monday – 2–3 pm Football, then Ruby Roos 3–4 pm.

  This service provides an affordable after school club and childcare option at £3 per hour, with payment accepted by card, childcare voucher, or tax-free childcare (up to 35% savings possible).

  A Special Visitor in Year 2 – Penny! 🐾

   

  Year 2 had a very special treat this week — a visit from our friendly therapy dog Penny, along with Ms Taggart!

  The children were thrilled to see our calm and gentle canine guest. Therapy dog visits are a wonderful way to support wellbeing in school, and it was heartwarming to see how confident, calm, and caring our pupils were during the session.
